Seattle City Light is offering a $1,200 rebate to qualifying homeowners who install a ductless heat pump. Why? Seattle City Light offers rebates to help customers save electricity because it is the most cost-effective way to meet our future energy needs. When customers reduce their electricity use, it helps them avoid the expense of building new power plants or buying electricity on the open market.
A ductless heat pump is unlike a regular heat pump. Ductless heat pumps (DHPs) operate without ductwork, eliminating potential loss of energy from leaky or unsealed ducts. They are an appropriate substitute for electric baseboards or wall heaters. A ductless heat pump system consists of one unit per room or area, and a compressor unit outside. Heating and cooling can be the largest electricity expense in your home. For moderate climates, using a ductless heat pump instead of your baseboard or wall heaters can save you money and electricity, while keeping you comfortable.

Rebate eligibility
- Home must be located in the Seattle City Light service area (Other counties offer rebates too).
- The home’s primary heat source must be electric zone heat, such as baseboards, Cadet or King Wall Heaters or electric hydronic baseboard heaters (Ducted heating systems are not eligible).
